From Lendeh Sherman: It’s hard to put into words the sadness I feel knowing the painful journey you had to endure, Awa. Watching someone suffer through such a long and difficult battle with cancer is never easy, and knowing that you are no longer here is still incredibly hard to process. I’m grateful for the short time I had the opportunity to know you, and I’m especially grateful for the love you shared with my dear cousin Wendell and the beautiful family you created together. Your two beautiful and brilliant little girls are a lasting reflection of that love, and I hope they will always carry your strength, love, and memory with them. Although your time with us was far too short, the love you gave and the lives you touched will continue to live on. May you finally be free from pain and rest peacefully. Du var en av de klokaste, gladaste och snällaste människorna jag kände! Du var ett ljus som lyste upp tillvaron där du var och var så mycket i en enda person och du brydde dig om alla människor, världen har verkligen förlorat en sann ängel! Du var väldigt uppskattad och jag ser fortfarande framemot alla de saker som vi sa att vi skulle göra tillsammans men inte hanns med, jag hoppas att vi en dag kommer se varandra igen! Du gick för snabbt, det fanns fortfarande mycket kvar att göra både i livet och tillsammans, det enda jag kan hoppas på är att du är på en bättre plats nu. Mina tankar går även till dina närstående och anhöriga.
